Diabetes Mellitus (DM2)
- Identify patients at risk for DM2 and select an appropriate screening strategy.
- Diagnose DM2 using current criteria.
- Describe recommended targets (glycemic control, lipids, blood pressure) for diabetic patients.
- Counsel a patient on the role of lifestyle in the management of diabetes and the prevention of complications.
- Propose an initial therapeutic plan for patients with DM2 and identify major drug side effects.
- Propose a surveillance plan for patients with DM2 including the role of flow sheets and/or electronic records, and identification of end-organ damage.
